Welcome to my musical journey, I am so glad you're here!
How I feel talking about what takes place on April 6th every year!
April 6th, too many is just another day of work, class, and just life in general. But that day in particular is MY day aka my birthday. When the clock strikes midnight that means it's time for myself, and world revolves around me (yes, very selfish for me). But each year when this day comes around it's a start to a new beginning for me, and the beginning to the next chapter into my life. With this mindset set in place it allows me to tacle new obstacles, and "shed" off my old skin and shape into the person I am meant to be and will become. Down below is a picture of my JLo cake for my 18th birthday last year, that my nana surprised me with.
With all of this being said each year I play three songs to mark this shift in my life, and my growth as a person. All three songs are by three of my absolute favorite artist Jennifer Lopez (duhh I mean expect her in everything),Demi Lovato (such an icon I was supposed to seen her in 2022, but something ended up coming up sadly) and Meghan Trainor (such an icon, no Meghan slander is allowed I saw her last year in September I did in fact cry my eyes out). So, let's get this show started!
First up is Jennifer Lopez's, 2005 timeless classic "Step Into My World" which is off her third studio album "Rebirth" that is celebrating it's 20th anniversary TODAY on March 1st. This song truly embodies this sense of opening your door to the world around you, and becoming the person you're meant to be. Celebrating this new part in your life; which is what I want to do with this new start. I listen to this song the second I wake up, it gets me into that mindset of this is MY world, and you're just walking amongst it. Now, listen to my mother sing her heart into this song! I think you might find a new favorite song.
Now, sit back and relax. Allow your mind to escape for a minute!
Once, my day gets kicked off I then blast the 2015 hit single by Demi Lovato entitled "Confident" off of her 2015 album named also "Confident". This song just puts me in a good mood, and I feel like I am ready to tackle whatever might be at hand. The title fits EXACTLY how you feel and especially on your birthday...I mean duhhh. Don't you wanna feel good on your day, It gets me prepared for the night or evening ahead when my friends, family, and sometimes enemies come together to celebrate me. Now, if you will excuse me I am going to grab my boxing gloves (not literally) and turn this UP.
I am sure you feel like a baddie by now correct? Also this is the rock version cause it's my favorite!
Finally, the song that will be new to my birthday playlist this year is Meghan Trainor's 2024 title track "Timeless". WHEW grab the tissues. This song will have you in tears, because it allows you to reflect on life and beautiful it is to cherish the little things. And, I personally think this is the best way to close out the beauty of your special day. I really want to spend this time to reflect, and to reflect about the year that is ahead, and how I want to grow as a person. As stated up top I had the privilege of seeing Meghan on her "Timeless Tour" on September 15th, 2024. Yes, I cried during two songs "Timeless" and "All About That Bass" (because I have been waiting for 10 years to see her, so my inner self was healed).
If you're crying, then welcome to the M-Train world!
BONUS: This year, I am spending my birthday (well, two days after, but it still counts) at my favorite place on earth which is at a CONCERT. For Christmas my nana bought me tickets to see Kelsea Ballerini on April 8th in Greenville, SC. I am SO excited; Kelsea is one of them artist I saw as an opener, and immediately knew I wanted to see her as a headliner. The last time I saw her was on March 30th, 2019 in Greenville, SC opening for THE Kelly Clarkson on her "Meaning Of Life Tour".
In conclusion, music plays a huge role in my life even on special days as my birthday. I hope this music opened your mind just a little bit more as to who I am as a person. Now, if you will excuse me let me go blast "Rebirth" to celebrate it's birthday today!
Bryson, I wholeheartedly agree that on your birthday the world revolves around you. That is how I feel on my birthday. I love that you listen to “Step Into My World” when you wake up because it helps your mindset for your world. I love love Demi’s song “Confident”. I listen to this song any day I am having a bad day or do not like how I look for the day. I agree it is a great song for your birthday because it is your day after all. I like how you close the day by listening to “Timeless”. I also think it is sweet you reflect at the end of the day, and you reflect on what you want your future to look like for the upcoming year. I personally have seen Kelsea in concert and it was amazing! I saw her when she dropped her divorce album and was still healing! I got to see her in her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. The first time she had ever been the main performer. She is amazing, I hope you have the best time seeing her!!!
Hi Bryson!! Had to come back and comment on your blog again because that last one was so good. I LOVE the explanations you gave about each song you play on your birthday. I don't have a specific playlist to play on my birthday but you actually made me start to think of making one. I especially love the addition of Timeless, that song makes me so emotional too! I'm not even judging for crying to All About That Bass because that would heal something in me too LOL. Hope you have so much fun seeing Kelsea Ballerini!!
I love that you thought of your birthday! That's a great idea and I love the song choices. J-LO is always going to be iconic. I actually really like Meghan Trainor and surprisingly, that's a song I haven't heard from her before! I also love Demi Lovato. Any song of hers is so nostalgic for me.
What an awesome way to spend YOUR Birthday !!! I personally havnt listened to too many songs by the 3 artists you chose. As someone with 4 sisters tho ive had my fair share of these artists and they are great. I vividly remember listening to the song Heart Attack when it would come on the radio and I can't help but sing along when i hear it now.
hiii. I really admire your connection to JLO, as she is stunning and an amazing singer. Your birthday was a great example for this blog, and your explination for each song are great. Also, I really enjoy listening to Demi and her song "Confident" is amazing and also puts me in a powerful and "confident" vibe.
